FAQ |
Q |
If I use bcalc.lch-hq.org, how will the data entered be used |
When you click the SAVE button, the current battle data will be stored on the server. If you are logged in on the site, the saved calculation will also contain your username. This personalised information will never be shown outside your personal page. To any other person this will just look like any other calculation. Other that this and the calculator counter (bottom of the page), there is no storage or usage of data. The data will NOT be mined in any way. Cookies are used to store your preferences only. |
Q |
What is the Login button for in the header? |
This is a new development in the battle calc. It is open for EVERYONE. It is still in development and will currently only save your personal calculations for retrieval. This will be expanded with extra functions. |
Q |
How long are the saved calculations in the database? |
A |
All calculations will be saved for the duration of one round, including havoc. If this causes the DB to grow too much, I will set some limit, like 3 days or so. |
Q |
How precise is the battle calculator? |
A |
The Calculator uses the same calculation algorithms the game Planetarion uses. The battle log will round the numbers for easy reading. UPDATE FOR R19: The EMP shooting (Cath freeze ships) are now slightly randomized. LCH bcalc has the formulas incorporated, but in real battle, the results may vary with small numbers of ships. The more ships, the better the prediction |

Q |
I have an idea how to improve the calculator or I found a bug. Do you want this info? |
A |
Yes. Errors, bugs, suggestions are always welcome. You can reach me on IRC network irc.netgamers.org #lch. You can also mail me at 'remy at lch-hq dot org' |
Q |
Is this calculator open source? |
A |
No. However, when I'm no longer interested in Planetarion, I will probably make it open source in some way. |
Q |
What kind of pastes work with the add ships to defense/attack |
A |
In general, anything that is in the format <shipname> <count> |

How to interface with the calculator |
You can supply ship amounts by supplying parameters in the URL. An example:
http://bcalc.lch-hq.org/index.php?spider_d_0=100&blackwidow_a_0=340&roid_d_0=10&structure_d_0=34 The way you can supply parameters is compatible with the bcalc from visionhq.org |
